Fill for Challenge 2: Invisibility

A few weeks after the coronation, greetings and gifts began to arrive at Cair Paravel from countries that hadn't been heard from in Narnia in a century.
A locked wooden chest was the gift from Corvalis, a country no one had ever heard of. "We probably need ambassadors," Susan said thoughtfully, but no one was listening, as they were all too busy trying to open the chest.
No key was included, but thanks to a clever Hedgehog, the chest was finally opened. At first glance, it appeared empty, but then Lucy spied a small black cap, and pulled it out. "I wonder what this is for?"
Edmund took the cap from her and put it on his head, and promptly disappeared. Susan shrieked in surprise, and they all stared at the place Edmund had just been, when his voice was heard. "What are you looking at?"
"You've gone invisible, Ed," said Peter, pointing out the obvious.
Edmund's disembodied voice filled the room. "Interesting….so I have." He reappeared suddenly, cap in hand.
"What are we supposed to do with that?" Susan said.
Edmund put the cap back on his head and disappeared again. "I can think of a few things."
A.N.: Just a silly take on the Edmund-as-spymaster and Edmund-gets-a-gift-of-his-own tropes. :D

Date: 2012-10-21 03:40 pm (UTC)Yes, Corvalis has its own magic, and the Queen of Corvalis is actually being extremely generous with this gift of an invisibility cap. Also rather scheming, because the cap could cause all sorts of problems, but she reckoned they could figure that out on their own. And Edmund will find many uses for the invisibility cap, starting with seeing all the other gifts in the chest, which are only visible to the person wearing the cap.
Heh, can you tell I had to pare this down considerably to a double drabble?
